K-12 Music Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS: Varies depending on position available.

REPORTS TO: Superintendent and Principal

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The workday shall begin at 8 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. except on Friday or days preceding holidays. Other workdays may be shortened depending on master contract provisions.
• The teacher assumes that duties will be assigned for the supervision of students before school, during recess times (elementary), lunch, and after school. These duties will be assigned on a rotating basis.
• The teacher may be required to supervise or work student events during the school year. These will be on a rotating basis.
• Teachers may be required to attend open houses, dances, homecoming activities, music contests etc., and class-sponsored activities for their level.
• Teachers will be required to attend in-service meetings to obtain knowledge of district needs and programs the district is planning for the students or staff.
• Teachers will be responsible for preparing a professional growth plan to submit as part of the evaluation process.
• Teachers will be responsible for preparing a professional portfolio describing their activities relating to the Iowa Teaching Standards.
• Teachers will demonstrate ability to enhance academic performance and support for implementation of the school district’s student achievement goals.
• Teachers will demonstrate competence in content knowledge appropriate to the teaching position.
• Teachers will demonstrate competence in planning and preparing for instruction.
• Teachers will use strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students.
• Teachers will use a variety of methods to monitor student learning.
• The teacher will demonstrate competence in classroom management.
• Teachers will fulfill professional responsibilities established by the school district.
• Other duties as assigned.
