Special Education Aide
Shift: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri
The Paraprofessional/Teacher Aide provides additional support in the classroom. The paraprofessional/teacher aide's goal is to assist in providing a well-organized, smooth functioning classroom environment in which all children can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.
Interactions with Children
- Interact with individual children and groups daily through circle time, centers, snacks, lunchtime, playground, free play, etc
- Develop an individual relationship with each child build on trust and respect.
- Use appropriate language, interactions and positive discipline while modeling positive behavior.
- Ensure the safety of each child enrolled in the class whether in the classroom, on the playground, or in common areas.
- Treat each child with dignity and respect for his/her cultural background.
- Ensure confidentiality, promote ethical practices, and maintain professional boundaries at all times.
- Continuously monitor children to always ensure safety and report child abuse and neglect.
- Assist in individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
Communication with Parents
Assessment
Assist in documenting ongoing observation and evaluation of children's development and progress.
Administrative Functions
Maintain a positive attitude
Maintain current infant/child CPR and first aid certification.
Education, Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment
