ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF DONOR ENGAGEMENT, Resource Development (RD), to lead and manage the dedicated team responsible for creating over 1.200 personalized vice-presidential and presidential acknowledgments annually and other RD-sponsored correspondence to top-level donors and volunteers. The position involves management from conceptualization through evaluation of a wide variety of processes and the personnel who execute them in support of a thoughtful, creative, accurate, and timely cultivation, recognition, and engagement strategy.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least five years’ donor relations, stewardship, or fundraising experience, preferably in a higher education setting; one year of experience managing/supervising staff, setting goals, and managing performance; strong communication, writing, and editing skills, ability to create content quickly and present information in a clear and cohesive manner, and familiarity with acknowledgment writing for multiple voices and executive style/tone; discretion with confidential information; meticulous attention to detail; excellent problem-solving, analytical, time-management, project management, decision-making, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills; a flexible approach to the working environment; independent judgment; proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and support for MIT’s commitment to advancement and its diversity, equity, and inclusion priorities. Seek a service-oriented leader who is able to collaborate and promote and foster a highly professional and welcoming office environment for MIT’s many internal and external audiences; interact effectively and build collaborative relationships with senior officers, top donors, a wide range of RD colleagues, Institute-wide advancement community staff, and vendors; manage several different projects at a time while meeting challenging and changing deadlines in a dynamic, deadline-driven, and team-oriented environment. Resource Development offers a variety of flexible work arrangements for staff, up to and including fully remote options. This team works in a hybrid structure, with a combination of on-campus and remote work.
