Location Description

Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods.  We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds. 
Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Leadsperson is responsible for working with the department supervisor on training new and existing personnel, providing a safe work environment and assigning of work duties.
This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists in training of all processing and production personnel in assigned department. Assists supervisor in updating training for existing personnel whenever equipment changes are instituted or news procedures are implemented.
  • Helps in providing for a safe work environment for all personnel. Also helps ensure that all production complies with food safety standards as established by Michael Foods, Inc.
  • Works with supervisor to help maintain sanitation standards of facility, dry sanitation, assign work tasks to department personal.
  • General organization of Packaging Warehouse, basic inspection of material, load/unload trucks, rotate inventory/put away, assist with inventory management to ensure stock out for ingredients and packaging. Manages pulling material from of site warehouse to meet production needs.
  • Identifies and assists with shrink/damage investigation.
  • Participates on an SRMP Safety team, identifies potential safety issues and assists with safety audits.
  • Interacts with truck drivers and verifies shipment accuracy. Schedules deliveries with trucking companies.
  • Interacts with production personnel to meet product needs, Troubleshoots, pulls/sets up material for production.
  • Performs daily cycle counts.  
  • Enters all receipts in SAP and investigates SAP receiving discrepancies.
  • Copy and distribute delivery documentation.
  • Processes STO and special shipments as needed.
  • Interacts with accounting to fix delivery discrepancies and cycle count variances.
  • Interacts with vendor when needed; when the buyer out of office, shipment mistakes, delivery scheduling.
  • Assumes personal responsibility to ensure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adheres to all safety policies and procedures and, incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
  • Adheres to Quality work practices, follows GMP’s, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained. Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality. Insures regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Able to work overtime and holidays when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
  • Prior manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred.
  • Prior training, leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a company forklift license. Experience with forklift or pallet jack preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.
  • Must demonstrate open and honest communication.
  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively with others to complete work assignments.
  • Able to safely lift and carry 50lbs.
  • Able to work independently or with others in a team environment depending upon the assignment.
  • Self-motivated while also willing to ask questions and seek direction.

  • Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty and humid environments.
  • Possesses good hand-eye coordination.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Capable of safely lifting 50 lbs. on occasion.
