Job Summary:

The Director for Donor Engagement & Stewardship will provide effective leadership and execution for the university’s numerous tools and strategies which support the annual giving program, including direct mail, day of giving and telethon. He/She will also coordinate all functions related to donor stewardship and prospect research. This position will work closely with the Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement on strategy to achieve individual and university goals. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with University Engagement and other members of the Institutional Advancement team to lead and manage the donor acquisition systems which fuel the annual giving program. This includes, but not limited to direct mail, day of giving and telethon. 
  • Implement numerous programs and strategies with effectiveness which engage donors in supporting the Morningside Fund.
  • Coordinate with the Student Financial Planning Office, as well as with student recipients to acknowledge named annual and endowed scholarships donors and/or their family members.
  • Provide research support on alumni and friends to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement and fundraising staff.
  • Assist gift officers with projects by designing external materials to take on face-to-face calls.
  • Attend and support events and programs directly related to responsibilities, especially those sponsored by the Morningside at large.
  • Assist in all other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Organizational skills, particularly planning, managing deadlines, and evaluating progress are required.
  • Computer literacy, particularly in word processing, databases, prospect research and other wealth screening tools.
  • Maintain professionalism when dealing with all staff and other constituents and the ability to accept and render constructive criticism in a professional manner.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Experience: Preference is for candidates with at least 2 years experience in development, or in related areas such as sales, marketing, or business.
