Job Description
General Description:
As part of NOVA’s IT security team, the IT Security Analyst will support IT security initiatives, including but not limited to audits, system monitoring, intrusion detection, incident response and training and tabletop exercises.
Duties and Tasks:
The Information Technology Security Analyst is responsible for assisting the college ISO in planning and administration of the college’s information security program.
Will help develop the policies, standards, and procedures necessary to protect the college and VCCS ITS infrastructure.
Installing, configuration, monitoring and managing of college network systems and associated servers.
The administration of college IT security operations, testing and utilizing intrusion detection tools.
Monitoring network traffic for anomalies
Maintain endpoint protection utilizing Microsoft Defender and ATP tools
Run and review network scans
Perform investigations
Manage PCI
Perform Disaster Recovery testing and document standards/guidelines.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

MInimum Qualifications:
BA or BS in Computer Science, Information Management, Information Security or related field; OR a combination of education and equivalent experience.
Significant experience in IT Security field.
Significant experience with network & routing protocols for Cisco & Palo Alto routers, firewalls, switches, and Palo Alto VPN
Significant experience with disaster recovery planning and testing, auditing, risk analysis, and business continuity planning.
Significant experience with Windows 2016/2019, Linux, Apple, VmWare based environments
Significant experience with Intrusion Detection Systems and Intrusion Prevention Systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
Significant experience with Microsoft Office365 (Office, Exchange, SharePoint) products.
Experience with Splunk or other security information and event management (SIEM) solution.
Security Professional certifications preferred.
Experience with maintaining system security using packet filtering, logging, and intrusion detection systems in production computing environments preferred.
Experience with Cisco Prime and/or Sourcefire Systems preferred
Experience with Splunk configuration files and architecture
Experience with Splunk architecture components to include search head clustering, indexer clustering, deployment server and monitoring console.
