Prior Authorization Specialist

The Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa is seeking a full-time Prior Authorization Specialist to complete prior authorizations and assist in scheduling diagnostic scans for the Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa.  This position also offers the ability to work from home after the requisite requirements have been met.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Complete prior authorizations and/or pre-determinations/benefit investigations for diagnostic testing, procedures and/or drug therapies.
• Complete scheduling process for testing, procedure or therapy; notification and education of patient regarding appointment date/time and any necessary preparation for appointment.
• Research and maintain a working knowledge of patient financial expectations and assistance programs in conjunction with PCI Financial Counselor.
• Maintain working knowledge of third-party payments procedures.
• Is knowledgeable with current insurance plans and managed care procedures.
• Is knowledgeable of daily schedules and clinic flow, correlating clinical provider/ancillary appointments when applicable.

• The successful candidate must maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate a high level of professionalism at all times.
• The qualified individual will be patient focused, possess excellent communication skills, and must work well with team members.
• Must also have a high level of comfort in working with computer systems.
