TRAILER/REFEER MECHANIC JOB DESCRIPTION Overview: Assist in safely and effectively completing preventative and required maintenance and body work on trailers, reefers, and other duties as assigned in a team focused environment RESPONSIBILITIES: • Perform repairs and diagnostics on starting and charging system, cooling and re-charge, and electrical including common fault codes. • Repairs include performing leak detection procedures, compressor replacements, soldering refrigerant lines, evaporator/condenser replacements and front & rear main engine seal replacements. • Perform repair and maintenance on reefer units in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications. • Identify and obtain necessary replacement parts as needed to execute repairs. • Diagnose and perform proper repairs • Constructs and repairs metal truck bodies and trailers, using hand tools and power tools. • Overhauls used and wrecked trailer bodies, following shop orders or specifications. • Fits and assembles components, using hand tools, and portable power tools, such as drills, riveter, and welding apparatus. • Conform to all safety and health standards Requirements • Exemplifies the Schuster Core values of: Accountability, Communication, Empowerment, Integrity, and Trust. QUALIFICATIONS: • 1-2 years of Transport Refrigeration Technical, or equivalent • Requires Thermo King and/or Carrier Reefer experience and certification or the agreement to attain certification • Experience and skill in trailer body work • Must be able to be “on-call” for after-hours service • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, stretch, step, climb, and/or sit frequently throughout the duration of the day • Attention to detail and highly organized CONFIDENTIAL DATA: The statements contained in this document are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position.
