HR & Talent Management, Director
Tower Companies is a family-owned, privately held real estate and property management company that actively manages a portfolio of approximately 6M square feet of commercial, residential, and retail properties throughout the DMV. Our approximately 100+ employee company is looking for a hands on and active Director of Human Resources and Talent management. We a seeking a director to support and cultivate employee growth opportunities, who has some experience in rejuvenating a post-pandemic office culture. The Director will support a culture of inclusivity and collaboration and proactively provide sound advice, guidance, and leadership to owners on all People matters. The Director should be able to leverage people analytics to create meaningful and actionable insights that serve the workforce and be tech-savvy with HR systems. The Director will develop and implement HRIS processes and champion operational excellence, establishing clear goals, metrics, and policies for all People functions. Currently an HR department of one (1), the Director will have an opportunity to hire a junior HR professional to build a strong, 2-person HR team, with the support of Tower's payroll and accounting team.
Job Responsibilities:
This position will report to Tower's Chief Strategy Officer and will be an integral part of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for collaborating with different department heads to enhance employee experience and optimize the efficacy of all Tower's teams.
The Director of HR and Talent management, will lead, plan, develop and coordinate policies, and activities for the Company, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategy. The Director will also be accountable for inspiring and maintaining Tower's culture and supporting our valued teams. Additional responsibilities include:
- Employee Relations - Minimize risk to the organization by actively responding to and addressing employee relations issues in a timely manner; collaborate with legal and outside counsel, as needed, to address complex or highly sensitive issues.
- HR Operations - Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of current, new and redesigned HR systems, reports, policies and procedures. Responsible for streamlining people processes and transactions, including ownership of policy maintenance and consistent execution of defined processes.
- Compensation and Benefits - Manage benefits programs, annual open enrollment, and creation of a competitive compensation structure; collaborate with the Director of Wellness and Wellness Committee on health and wellness Initiatives.
- Talent acquisition and management -Manage and lead Tower's Talent Management strategy, supporting Tower employees - from the full life-cycle of talent acquisition to professional growth and development to company-wide annual awards, etc.; Create and implement development plans for talent retention;
- Performance Management - Provide a strategic approach to the performance management process, identify trends in performance data and recommend changes when necessary; manage the annual performance evaluation process (including compensation planning) to champion operational excellence. Support managers in delivering employee feedback.
- Talent development - Provide innovative recommendations while collaborating with Senior Leaders to create a culture of learning and inclusivity; Develop and maintain training and development policies and procedures based on job positions and levels
- Compliance Management - Implement and enforce compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations concerning employment, recommending best practices; identify legal requirements and government-reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.

- Experience in developing, initiating and refining programs and processes for calibration, promotion, succession planning, training leadership and employees.
- Proficiency with or ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
- Ability to travel to job sites within the local area as needed within DC and Montgomery County, MD.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- At least 8 (eight) years of human resource management experience required.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP or similar certification highly preferred.
Candidate must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (including Booster vaccine) and willing to work in-office at least four (4) days per week, with the option to work remotely for one (1) day per week. Frequent site visits to and meetings with team members at properties located in Montgomery County, MD and Washington, DC will be required. Candidate must submit to pre-employment screening including background check and drug test.
