Workstudy - America Reads/America Counts Tutor
Job Summary
The America Reads America Counts (ARAC) Federal Work-Study program needs dependable and enthusiastic TCC students who enjoy working with elementary school children and helping them with either reading or math skills.
Each tutor spends a minimum of six hours and up to a maximum of twenty hours a week tutoring at a Tulsa Public Schools (TPS) elementary school.
Previous tutoring experience is not necessary.
Reading tutors are trained and supervised by Reading Partners, a national nonprofit literacy organization that works in TPS schools.
Tutors work one-on-one with students in the school's reading center.
ARAC math tutors are assigned to regular classrooms and work either one-on-one or with small groups of students and are supervised by classroom teachers.
Minimum Qualifications
Have a love for learning and children.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work at least 6 hours/week.
Commitment to work one or two full semesters.
Qualify for Federal Work-Study financial aid.
A successful background check.
